About Jim Stevens Manual
Therapy
Long-term health and well-being through
preventative manual therapy
Every person who walks through these doors is dealing with something. They all want
relief from their pain, stress, immobility, injury, or trauma. These individuals put their
trust in these hands, knowing I will do my very best to serve and aid in their recovery.
Health and well-being of my patients
I am dedicated to heath and well-being of my patients through whole-body preventative
care that includes both body and mind. If you think about it, massage therapists practicing
manual therapy spend 60 to 90 minutes with their clients which is much more time than
general doctors or practitioners. Therefore, well-informed therapists can identify many
issues to be addressed directly or for referral to your other providers. My passion for
understanding different medical disciplines allows me to identify many potential issues. If
I can help, great! If I cannot, I will let you know and suggest you seek other providers as
needed.

Jim Stevens’ background, LMT #0019016570
Jim began his studies as a Massage Therapist in 1994 at Crystal Mountain School of
Massage Therapy, located in Albuquerque, NM. After working as a therapist for several
years, he returned to serve as faculty from 1998-2001, he then served on Faculty for
Southwest Healthcare Institute from 2002-2004. In 2006, he became the
manager in charge of curriculum development For Socratic Manual
Therapies, where he co-wrote two books, “Developing Personal Ethics,”
and “The Ethics of Cancer and Contagious Disease.” He is currently
working on a third book entitled “Mastering Manual Therapy.”
Over the course of 25 years, Jim has studied Anatomy and Physiology,
Exercise, and Kinesiology. He has done a great deal of research and
documentation. He is continuously experimenting and trying new ideas
to serve both his patients and the field of Manual medicine. This attitude
has allowed him to become a true pioneer in the field of manual
medicine.
As with anyone who strives for greatness, one must be able to learn from others as well.
For Jim, continuing education has been paramount in developing his understanding of the
human body. He has studied with such greats as, “The International Association of
Healthcare Educators,”“The Barral Institute,” “Socratic Manual Therapies,” “The Upledger
Institute”, “Wagner Elite,” and “Central NM Community College,” where he studied Biology,
Chemistry, Anatomy, and Physiology, maintaining a 3.9 GPA.
Jim’s work is largely influenced by his association with his colleagues. He surrounds
himself with Osteopaths, Chiropractors, MDs, and physical therapists that he calls friends,
taking their work and incorporating it into his own. He has spent the past 20 years
studying the works of the French Osteopathic schools in order to better understand and
apply the underlying principles related to Manual Therapy.

Many injuries result from a long-term build-up caused by a series of smaller, insignificant
injuries. The primary benefit of consistent care lies in the addressing of these smaller
lesions and injuries. When we remove the strain caused by a slight injury, we reduce the
likelihood of great injury in the future. This is why it is called it preventive medicine.
Every patient is different, and no two are ever the same. However, it is my ideal that each
individual will become increasingly more aware of his or her body, and the way their body
responds to different influences. That each individual feels better, moves with greater ease,
and has a greater appreciation of what it means to take care of oneself. We can offer advice
on diet, exercise, nutrition, sleep and multiple other viewpoints. Ultimately, the ideal is to
teach patients how to better care for themselves.
Over 25 years of practice, I have had the opportunity to work with everybody from world-
class athletes, to those in hospice care, treating thousands of patients from new-born
through adult. All of it has been an honor to be a part. Here you can read a few
testimonials of those I have been able to serve through the years.
Soccer Manual Therapy
“Now that I am back in the
Albuquerque area where my
passion for playing soccer is still
alive, I am grateful to have found
Jim Stevens. The manual therapy
work he has done for me and my
family is priceless.”
-- Derek Dodrill, soccer player, CD Aguiluchos
USA, Santa Clara Storm, Kansas Wesleyan University
Tennis Manual Therapy
“High-level athletes know
that recovering is as important as
intense training, and ideally they
work hand in hand. I feel that
having Jim as my therapist while I
was attending UNM was a distinct
advantage over the other athletes
who did not. I am very grateful to
have Jim on my team, knowing his
work is decisive at the top level.”
-- Nicolas Dubey, tennis player, UNM, AZ State
