Men’s Health

Addressing men-specific health concerns

with manual therapy

Men’s health issues are often overlooked, and seldom talked about. Perhaps it is just the nature of man to keep his troubles to himself. It seems to me most men wait until something is falling apart before they ask for help. In an attempt to make it a more acceptable conversation, I dedicate this page to men’s health issues.
As with all things in manual therapy the solution is often easy and gentle, the hard part is getting the conversation started.

Frequent urination:

As we age, many of us develop trouble with our bladders. Some men are up six times a night or more to use the restroom. Many men are kept on a leash by their inability to control the bladder, limiting the things they can and cannot do. Manual therapy can effectively treat the uro-genital system, aiding everything from the kidneys to the urinary bladder.

Prostate function:

A week stream, from swelling within the prostate, leaking urine after we think we are finished, and trouble starting, all of these are symptoms of prostatitis. The prostate lies directly under the bladder and can be gently, and easily manipulated from outside the body. The issue is really movement. When the prostate is free to move in its environment, it is less irritable and functions at a more optimal level.

Testicular pain:

It happens to all men at least once in our life, and pain in the scrotum, always makes us wonder if there is something wrong. Generally, there is nothing “wrong.” In fact, most of the time, the cause is a swollen testicular nerve in or near the abdomen. This can be treated in minutes with regular success. As a male of the species, I know what embarrassment feels like. I know the reason we do not speak up when we think there might be trouble. None of us wants to be viewed as weak or falling apart, but it can happen. We are human beings and our bodies where designed to last 80-90 years. As we age we could try to be more concerned with just taking care of our own bodies, and our own sense of well being. If you have something going on you are unsure about, give me a call and we can talk about your options.
